I’m so happy I didn’t activate the Fast CGI for PHP. I came really close but then decided it wouldn’t be worth the trouble. I hate new stuff. 2.2.1 went easily for me but two plugins screwed me over and I couldn’t take any PPP opps for over a week because of time outs. Bluehost was very helpful as always, though. Oh, and some of my plugins didnt’ work with my new theme so that was annoying, too. Gee, this blogging is fun!

Elizabeth: To find those required links for PPP posts, you can log into your PPP account, click on “my posts”. There you’ll find all the posts that you have ever submitted to PayPerPost. You can then click on the post in question and find the required link listed in the particulars. Hope this helps!

Mosley: I don’t blame you. Version 2.3 may be coming out next month so perhaps the wait may be worth it.

Ron-Oh yes, I lost posts! I lost PAID POSTS. I have days where I post three times, so I had to try to remember and then FIND over 20 posts. It took me a while to figure out that I could look in my Bloglines feed at my own posts, which showed me everything. Then I just had to copy/paste. The problem was, none of the paid posts had the links in them correctly. I still don’t know how to find the required links in a PPP opp. So I just had to wait for them to reject the post and send me the link to the opp so I could put the links back in. HUGE pain in the butt! Next time I get brave enough to upgrade, I might ask you for help first!

I have had troble upgrading too… and have found no help online. I get lots of nice erro messages. So I am staying at 2.1.2 for now.

Greenearth: It has definitely been a learning experience. I have a better idea now of how all the PHP files interrelate with each other and with the WordPress template. I’m surprised (but very glad) that your comment came through because it is timed before my blog crashed again. Great timing!

Elizabeth: You lost posts?! OH NO! I was in a cold sweat for a few hours thinking that I’d lost everything. I did a backup before I did today’s upgrade. But for some reason I couldn’t get back to yesterday’s version. As for Bluehost, their support instantly knew what to do. This makes me think that they’ve released something that isn’t quite ready for prime time!

I tried to upgrade to the new version of WP, and I screwed it up so badly that I had to have Bluehost do a backup database restore of all of my sites. The only problem was that the backup they used was over a week old, so I ‘lost’ a whole bunch of posts.

I haven’t had the nerve to turn on the fast Cgi for php feature yet either. Too scared of screwing up something else!

Was a joy to read your post. Experience the same difficulties whenever I try to change something on my hosting. It all works out in the end but is a real process getting there.
